Labor Day Cookouts & Casts: Fishing and BBQ Tips for the Long Weekend

Labor Day weekend is that sweet spot where summer winds down, but the days are still long enough for both fishing and family cookouts. It’s one of the best times of year to enjoy the outdoors, gather friends, and squeeze in one more river trip before fall.

Start with the Morning Cast

Labor Day is busy on the water, so your best chance at a peaceful trip — and a good catch — is early. The cooler hours mean hungrier fish, calmer rivers, and fewer crowds. Pack light, bring a small cooler, and keep it simple so you can get back in time for the afternoon cookout.

Fire Up the Grill

No Labor Day is complete without good food. Burgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, and maybe even the day’s catch are plenty. Prepping sides ahead of time lets you spend less time in the kitchen and more time swapping stories around the fire pit. A drizzle of olive oil, fresh herbs, and lemon go a long way for grilled fish.

Keep It About Family

The long weekend is really about slowing down with the people who matter. Lawn games, music, and a cooler full of cold drinks set the tone, while a relaxed schedule keeps stress out of the day. Fishing in the morning, food in the afternoon, and maybe a bonfire at night — that’s a Labor Day well spent.

One Last Note

Since it’s Labor Day, we’ve marked down our tees for the weekend. They’re light, comfortable, and perfect whether you’re out casting or standing over the grill. The sale runs through Monday only.
